Microwave coupling

In contrast to lower excitation frequencies, microwave radiation (2.45 GHz) is not generated by electrodes but by a magnetron. The magnetron is always outside of the actual plasma and feeds its radiation into the plasma chamber via a silica glass window. This method of plasma generation is referred to as microwave coupling.
