Contamination
In a wider sense, the term is understood the means the same as⇒Soiling. The exact meaning of the term, however, is the contamination of a substance or surface with toxic or noxious substances, in particular with
- pathogenic germs
- radioactive substances
In case of admixtures to a substance as volume characteristic, plasma treatment cannot be effective because plasma acts on surfaces only. Likewise, there are no applications known in plasma technology which are effective against radioactive contamination.Plasma cleaning can be used with great success against the contamination of surfaces by pathogenic germs. Pathogenic germs are generally organic. Organic substances can be completely decomposed and removed by plasma cleaning in an oxygen plasma . Also see:
