Multilayer
Printed circuit boards usually have two conductor layers (front and back); this has been state-of-the-art for a long time. To accommodate the increasing complexity of the circuits, the common method now is to install conductors also in the intermediate layer. Conductors with more than 2 conductor layers are referred to as multilayers. Currently, up to 24 layers are used.
The respective circuit layout is called multilayer technology.
