Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is chemically closely related with polyvinyl fluoride. Whereas the monomeric base group in polyvinyl fluoride is formed by replacing one of four hydrogen atoms in the ethylene group with fluorine, in polyvinylidene fluoride it is two hydrogen atoms.

Polyvinylidene fluoride is primarily used as an electrical component in sensors because of its ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties.
