NEW AT DIENER’S

Apply plasma surface treatment to the surface for the series inline.

Electromobility is advancing, and new solutions for the necessary transformation are urgently needed. Interesting process developments in battery manufacturing and solar technology demonstrate how efficiently and economically atmospheric pressure plasma can be used. This is where plasma at atmospheric pressure really comes into its own, whether in intermediate treatment for mandatory surface cleaning or for activating adhesive surfaces. However, treating large areas is usually a difficult problem to solve.

What is plasma?
Plasma is created by supplying a gas with so much energy that a critical number of electrons leave the atomic shells. The result is positively charged ions surrounded by free electrons. Such an ionised gas is electrically conductive. Plasma is often referred to as the ‘fourth state of matter’ because the matter broken down in this way has a multitude of new properties.
Atmospheric pressure plasma offers a wide range of applications. The devices are primarily designed for the local pre-treatment of a wide variety of surfaces, such as cleaning and activating polymers, metals, ceramics, glass, textiles and hybrid materials. Thanks to their unique, compact design, atmospheric pressure plasma systems from Diener electronic are robot-compatible and can be integrated into existing automated production lines.

PlasmaBeam optimised for surface treatment is called RT
The new PlasmaBeam RT from Diener electronic expands the possibilities of atmospheric pressure plasma. With 17 years of experience in proven PlasmaBeam technology from Diener, the new product opens up 2D surface treatment.
This enables exciting solutions for mandatory manufacturing processes. Pre-treatment of films in battery production or processing of solar cells and modules in PV manufacturing are just two of dozens of application examples. The system consists of the supply unit, gas and power supply in a flexible pipe, and the rotation unit (RT). Using dry, oil-free compressed air, the rotation unit with two opposing PlasmaBeam nozzles easily performs size-scalable 2D surface treatment. High treatment speeds on the surface to be cleaned or activated are continuously achieved with the PlasmaBeam RT in a width of 120 mm. Profinet connection for integration into automated production is available as an option for control purposes. In cooperation with partners from research and industry, Diener electronic GmbH & Co. KG offers the PlasmaBeam RT for both Industry 4.0 and robot capability. Consistent quality can be controlled and documented with test inks, plasma indicators and process protocols.
