Plasma density

Plasma density does not as in case of a gas designate the mass of a plasma in relation to its volume expressed in units [g/cm²] but the percentage of ionizised gas in relation to the total of ions and neutral gas in a plasma. This is the same as the the amount of ions in relation to the total of ions and atoms or molecules. Therefore the designation ion density is more common.

In no plasma the complete matter is ionizised, because parallel to the ionisation process allways recombination of neutral particles occures.

Higher energy and higher oszillating frequency of the HF-generation and lower pressure of the process gas increases the plasma density.
