Proton

A proton is an elementary particle with a high mass, and the carrier of the positive charge. It has the same mass as the neutral neutrons; together with them, it forms the nucleus (for hydrogen , one proton only). Generally, with light elements there is the same number of neutrons and protons in the nucleus.
