Plasma arc spraying
Since high melting point oxides are very difficult to melt with a gas-oxygen flame, a plasma gas is pressed between a cooled housing and an electrode into the light arc chamber where overpressure occurs. By means of a carrier gas, the spray powder is fed to the plasma gas which flows out. To prevent thermal decomposition in the hot plasma, the process time in the plasma must be observed very closely.
