Mu-metal

Magnetisable alloy consisting primarily of nickel and iron as well as small proportions of other alloy components. Mu-metal has a high initial permeability and a very small coercive force. The material is primarily used to shield electromagnetic fields. The name “mu-”metal refers to the Greek letter µ which is the symbol for the physical variable permeability.
