Functionalisation
Exposing a plastic surface to a plasma results in a modification of the chemical composition and the formation of free radicals in a boundary layer which is close to the surface and comprises several molecular layers. In the molecule gases N2, O2 or NH3, atoms of the gases can be additionally integrated into the surface. These functional groups cause a change in the surface properties.
