Electron volt

Energy unit (acronym: eV). This is the energy an electron (or proton) gains after accelerating from rest through an electric potential difference of 1 V. 1 eV = 1.6·10-19 J. The multiples are: 1 keV = 1.000 eV; 1 MeV = 1.000.000 eV.
