available in Canada?
Unfortunately, VOOM is not available outside of the continental
United States.
I don’t see anything mentioned about local channels. How do I
get local channels?
Local channels are available via an off-air antenna. All VOOM
packages include the off-air antenna, and this will be
professionally installed for you by VOOM. Depending on your area,
local channels will vary.
Tell me more about the digital over-the-air antenna. How does it
work?
If your local affiliate broadcast in digital format, the digital
off-air antenna is designed to pick up that signal and display these
local stations via the tuner built into your VOOM Satellite Receiver
at the digital resolution of the broadcast.
What if I purchase the VOOM
HDTV
Satellite Service but it is
determined that the installers are unable to get a signal?
VOOM is available anywhere within the continental United States. If
for some reason the VOOM install team is unable to facilitate an
installation, your money will be cheerfully refunded.
Does VOOM have a DVR option, like a TiVO?
At this point in time, VOOM does not offer this option. The VOOM
High Definition DVR is scheduled to be available soon.
How do I schedule a VOOM installation?
After you purchase VOOM from
Plasma.com
you will receive a VOOM Certificate via e-mail. You can then call
VOOM at 1-800-931-VOOM to schedule your installation. An expert
VOOM technician will come to your home at your convenience to setup
the system and achieve an optimal connection to the Rainbow 1
Satellite.
What is Super DMA?
The Super DMA concept refers to the expansion of off-air channel
maps to include channels from outside the viewer’s “home” DMA that
are potentially receivable as per FCC Digital Contour data. For
example – if you live in the Hartford DMA - previously VOOM
delivered off-air listings to you only for the channels that are
within that DMA. In practice, VOOM's scanning functionality may
allow you to receive outer-DMA channels from NY, Springfield, MA,
Providence and even Boston DMAs.
Without Super-DMA, you could get these outer channels, but without
program listings. Super DMA provides you with the appropriate
listings. Super DMA also provides VOOM with the flexibility to
insert channels into various DMAs based on actual reception
experience - we are no longer limited by "either this DMA or that
DMA".
